The Prodigal One

The Prodigal One

How many times did I count the flocks of my father’s fields as mine alone, not to be shared with my brother gone?

How many times did I remind my father of my brother’s sin, before he came to himself and home again?

How many times did I count myself the greater, and made myself my brother’s hater?

How many times did I claim to be the better son, only to find myself the prodigal one?
